"In silico"

From Wikipedia
If the target host* of a phage therapy treatment is not an animal the term "biocontrol" (as in phage-mediated biocontrol of bacteria) is usually employed, rather than "phage therapy".

In silico
From:"Genomics,Proteomics and Clinical Bacteriology",N.Woodford and Alan P.Johnson

Phrase that emphasizes the fact that many molecular biologists spend increasing amounts of their time in front of a computer screen, generating hypotheses that can subsequently be tested and (hopefully) confirmed in the laboratory.

Phage Therapy is influenced by:

Phage therapy is influenced by:

Country : the epidemiological situation is different from country to country in terms of circulating bacteria and bacteriophages. Example: lytic phages from Italy may be no active on the same bacteria (genus and species) isolated from another country and vice versa.

STAPHYLOCOCCUS BACTERIOPHAGE

(liquid preparation)It is a highly efficient therapeutic and prophylactic agent against antibiotic-resistant staphylococcus strains to treat all kinds of skin, mucous membrane and inner organs` lesions caused by staphylococci, i.e. furunculosis, carbunculosis, hydroadenitis, abscesses, purulent wounds, pleurisy, bursitis, thermal burns, chronic osteomyelitis, phlegmons, tenosynovitis, mastitis, cystitis, cholecystitis, deeply infil-trated sycosis complicated by staphylococcus abscess, tonsillitis, enterocolitis.

The preparation is highly efficient in the cases of enteric disease, dysbacteriosis. Its therapeutic effect is not less than 95 %.
Staphylococcus bacteriophage does not affect the normal intestinal flora, causes no adverse reactions, is harmless for children and pregnant women.
Storage time: 18 months at 4-10 C°.
Supplied in ampules, 10 ml.

Question mark

Are Phages a valid alternative to Antibiotic prophylaxis in surgery ?

Two point of view:

1-From Western countries:
Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (Guideline)

2-From EX-SOVIET countries: Watch the film-clip .

From
: Pyobacteriophage liquid

"During gastrointestinal tract surgery and peritonitis preparation is introduced in quantity of 100 ml, after that wound is sewed and bacteriophage is introduced by drainage once a day during 3 – 4 days"

To pay attention when the surgeon gives the preparation with Phages.
